Why NOT the Red Cross, Part II
"Most ex-GI's know how bad the Red Cross is/can be -- they've been known to sell coffee at disaster sites and demand payment for stuff that's been donated to them. You should have heard the guys at lunch yesterday - all us grayhead retired military telling horror stories about the Red Cross.
When I first went in the AF, way back when we got paid in cash, it was as good as mandatory that you donated to the Red Cross every payday [all squadron commanders demanded 100% participation]. As soon as that stopped, so did the donations.
They have become just another bloated bureaucracy full of armchair-potatoes who try to hide their ineptness by taking refuge behind procedures and regulations."
This is a direct quote from Dad, who was in the Air Force for 20+ years.
